American First National Bank News Release
American First National Bank moved to a new 12-story building in the heart of Houston’s Chinatown, in September 2007. Since then its total assets have risen to $750 million in 2009, from $380 million in 2007. Business has doubled over the last two years due to an agreeable operating style, professional leadership and the sincere service of the entire staff. This October, the bank’s financial reports showed that its net income before taxes was $8.1 million, return on assets (ROA) is 0.89 percent and return on equities (ROE) is 9.4 percent.
Given the current circumstances of these slow economic times, the bank continues to pay more attention and remain vigilant in regards to every loan it handles. If loan customers are having a difficult time, the bank will try to work together with them in order to make sure the bank continues to maintain the good quality of its assets. This excellent banking practice has even helped to make the 2009 financial report better than the one in 2008. Under the leadership of board chairman Mr. Henry Wu, the bank has repeatedly made remarkable achievements, and stockholders are very satisfied with their investments.
Mr. Wu has had several other pieces of good news recently. One is the completion of the beautiful First Colony Branch in Sugar Land, near the Welcome Supermarket on Highway 6. Under the personal supervision of Mr. Wu, everything was completed on schedule. Mr. Wu’s supervision coupled with AFNB’s high standards for quality and professional service has made the new branch’s customers feel quite comfortable. Since opening at the new address November 2, business has risen at a rapid pace. The Sugar Land branches’ ribbon-cutting ceremony took place November 19, and both old and new clients from the community were on hand to celebrate the occasion and share a meal together.
Mr. Wu’s other good news is that his daughter has been engaged to Mr. Cai, whose uncle is the art society president, Mr. Wong. To celebrate the upcoming wedding, Mr. Wu invited relatives and good friends to a golf tournament at the Sweetwater Country Club on November 20, and more than fifty people are expected to participate. Mr. Wu will present awards to the top three winners and there will be a special prize for the first-place winner. His daughter’s wedding ceremony will take place at the Intercontinental Hotel in Houston on November 21. Congressman Al Green and Director of Office of Economics and Culture Mr. Chan will officiate.
